Field trip information
This geologic overview of the Rocky Mountain Fold and Thrust Belt starts on the foreland side of the triangle zone and transects several major compressional structures and producing hydrocarbon fields.
Five stops along our journey will give the field-trip participant a better understanding of fault structures and their associated trapping mechanisms.
The field trip does not require any hiking gear or helmets. However, please dress for the weather since it is fall in the mountains.
