Murray Rodgers is a professional geologist with 35 years experience in E&P. He was a Founder, Director, President and CEO of Zodiac Exploration Corp., and he has held senior technical and management positions with Trident Resources Corp. and OMV-AG. Mr Rodgers has led successful exploration and development programs for both conventional and unconventional resources worldwide. During the past 15 years he has worked at the leading (and occasionally bleeding) edge of the unconventional resource sector in CBM, shale gas and tight oil in Canada and the USA.
Under his leadership, the team at Zodiac successfully drilled the first ever horizontal well at over 4,300 metres TVD under extreme overpressure to test the multi-billion barrel Kreyenhagen Formation in the San Joaquin Basin. This was the deepest horizontal well ever drilled in California.
During his tenure at Trident Resources, a company that grew from a standing start to over 200 mmcf/day of operated CBM production, Mr Rodgers was a co-recipient of the Sproule Award for Technical Achievement at the CSUR 2006 Conference in Calgary.
He also co-discovered the OMV - operated, multi-TCF Miano/Sawan gas field in Pakistan. Mr Rodgers is the creator of a geological play analysis program known today as “The Edge”, which is widely used in the E&P and financial sectors to evaluate and rank real-time industry performance for over 100 play types in Western Canada. He is a technical consultant and strategic advisor to senior management of E&P companies in both North America and Europe.
