Field trip description
The scope of the fieldtrip is to get an overview about the origin and age of building stones in the central, historic part of the city of Vienna. This will be achieved by a guided walking tour which will touch geological and historic aspects of buildings in the city center of Vienna (1st district). Dr Summesberger will explain the origin and age of the building stones of the historic buildings. The tour will last about one and a half hours and will end in the center of Vienna in front of St. Stephen's Cathdral. A guidebook with information about the visited buildings will be available.

|16.00 hrs||Arrival at Cafe Griensteidl at Michaelerplatz to have a taste of the world reknown „Sacher cake“ which is a Viennese speciality, exported even overseas.|

The Monument of Empress Maria is located between the Naturhistorisches Museum and the Kunsthistorisches Museum on the Maria-Theresien-Platz.
