Wilfried Eichlseder, Univ. Prof. DI. Dr. techn. Dr. h.c
Wilfried Eichlseder, born in 1956 in Steyr, Upper Austria, studied mechanical engineering at TU Graz. He started his career as an engineer specialized on finite element analysis, in 1981 at Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG where he later took over the lead of the simulation, strength and acoustics department of the Technology Center Steyr. In this period his main focus was the development of fatigue life calculation methods based on finite element analysis. In 1995 he became director of the Engineering and Technology Center Steyr.
1999 he was appointed to a professorship of the chair of mechanical engineering at the Montanuniversitaet Leoben. From 2002 to 2009 he also led the Christian-Doppler-Laboratory for fatigue strength. His main research work is focused on fatigue strength and tribology.
2011 and 2015, respectively, he was elected as rector of the Montanuniversitaet Leoben.
