Special issue: Multi-scale Hydrogeophysics for Water Sustainability

Our planet is in the throes of extreme climate variability. Inextricable linkages of climate with the hydrosphere at different scales are playing havoc with the availability of water resources essential for the well-being and survival of humanity. Anomalous climate extremes are causing unexpected floods and long periods of droughts in different parts of the earth, exacerbating water sustainability challenges. Hydrogeophysical investigations effectively address various related issues at global, regional, and local scales. The proposed Special Issue will highlight the latest applications of hydrogeophysics at various scales to address the problem of water sustainability.

The journal Near Surface Geophysics is calling for submissions of original research work relating to the multiscale hydrogeophysical studies carried out with the objective of achieving the goal of water sustainability. Efforts will be made to include geographically well-distributed studies conducted over diverse hydrogeological terrains. The contributions may deal with water sustainability-related issues at global, regional, or local scales. Studies on the development of improved methodology for modeling and those dealing with the application of emerging technologies employing UAV’s or ATV’s etc., are welcome.

Topics for this call for papers include but not restricted to:

• Groundwater sustainability in the time of climate extremes
• Geophysical studies for groundwater sustainability at different scales
• Recent advancements in geosciences to address groundwater sustainability

Submission Guidelines/Instructions

Authors are invited to submit original manuscripts, prepared according to the ‘Guidance for Authors’ published on the Near Surface Geophysics website. The online submission system for the journal can be found here. When submitting your manuscript, please answer the question ‘Is this submission for a special issue?’ by selecting the special issue title from the drop-down list.

The selection of final papers for publication will depend on both results of the peer-review process and reviews by the guest editors as well as by the editor-in-chief.
