EAGE Achievement Awards 2026: Celebrating and Recognizing Excellence

At the core of EAGE lies a profound commitment to fostering innovation and advancing the geosciences. By honoring groundbreaking research, exceptional technical achievements, and outstanding service to the community, these recognitions have become an inspiration for the EAGE community. 

Beyond the prestige of individual recognition, EAGE’s Awards are fundamental for the construction of a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. As we bring together and recognize academia and industry achievements, this celebration of excellence reminds professionals at every stage of their careers of the profound impact their work can achieve. We are very proud and congratulate once again all our award winners for their achievements.

Satinder Chopra: Conrad Schlumberger Award 2026

Award for Outstanding Contribution to the scientific and technical advancement of the geosciences, particularly geophysics.

Zoya Heidari: Alfred Wegener Award 2026

Award for Outstanding Contribution to the scientific and technical advancement of EAGE’s disciplines, particularly petroleum geoscience and engineering

Omar Saad: Arie van Weelden Award 2026

Award for highly significant contributions to one or more of the disciplines in our Association by a Young Professional

Satinder Chopra has been at the forefront of seismic attribute analysis and reservoir geophysics for more than 41 years. He is widely recognized for his pioneering contributions to seismic attribute interpretation, particularly in the development and application of geometric attributes such as coherence and curvature. A passionate and engaging communicator, Dr. Chopra has delivered over 258 presentations at international conferences and workshops and authored nine books covering diverse aspects of geophysics. A long-standing contributor to our Annual Conference, he has also taught EAGE e-lectures, sharing his expertise with the global geoscience community. 

Zoya Heidari was recognized for her significant contributions to multi-scale formation evaluation, rock physics, and petrophysics. Her work has advanced the understanding of how rock fabric, pore structure, and geochemical interactions influence the interpretation of well logs and core measurements. She has developed practical experimental methods and physics-based models that improve assessment of saturation, permeability, wettability, and storage capacity in both conventional and unconventional reservoirs, as well as in CCS and hydrogen-storage settings. Prof Heidari has also shown strong leadership through the creation of research consortia, collaboration with industry, and the development of tools that are now applied in field studies. As an educator and mentor, she has trained numerous students and young professionals who are contributing to the geoscience and engineering community. 

Omar Saad is an internationally recognized leader whose pioneering research has transformed geophysics, notably through advances in full waveform inversion (FWI), seismic denoising, and the integration of artificial intelligence in geoscientific analysis. His prolific service as a reviewer for more than twenty journals exemplifies his commitment to scientific rigor and excellence. Dr Saad’s dedication extends beyond research, as evidenced by his active engagement in the geoscience community, including leading workshops, delivering training sessions, supervising students, and releasing widely used open-source software packages. His innovative research, technical expertise, and exemplary community service have made a lasting impact, inspiring peers and young scientists alike. Dr. Saad’s achievements embody the spirit of the Arie van Weelden Award, honoring a young leader whose contributions continue to shape the future of geoscience.

Siddharth Misra

Prof Dr Siddharth Misra’s research focuses on improving subsurface characterization and prospect evaluation for the exploration of hydrocarbons, minerals and water resources.

His major contribution is in the theory of electromagnetic responses of geological formations to various charge polarization phenomena. The theory has enabled him to introduce a multi-frequency electromagnetic log-inversion technique to remove dielectric effects for improved estimation of hydrocarbon pore volume.
