A solid understanding of how rocks deform throughout geological history, how rock properties influence fault geometry in the subsurface, and how faults can be simplified appropriately is key for exploration and production projects, as well as for subsurface projects in general.
Drawing on three decades of industry experience, Pascal D. Richard (PRgeology) has distilled what truly matters in structural geology through countless reviews, peer assists, coaching, and training sessions. The result is a course – Structural Geology Must Knows – that delivers the essential structural geology concepts that all geoscientists need to master in order to build or validate static models and carry out fault interpretation. Participants will learn to create robust and fit-for-purpose maps and 3D models aligned with the maturity of their project and their specific technical and business objectives.
Learning Approach
The course is highly interactive, combining short lectures with numerous exercises to maximize learning value. Participants are organized into small groups to encourage continuous active participation. The programme is carefully structured so that concepts introduced early on are progressively applied in subsequent exercises, reinforcing both understanding and practical skills.
A distinctive feature of the course is its immersive virtual reality field trip, where participants can explore geological structures in a realistic setting and immediately relate field observations to the concepts discussed during the training.
