EAGE Women in Geoscience and Engineering Community and RWTH to Conduct a Webinar on Gender and Diversity

WHERE ARE THE WOMEN? GENDER AND DIVERSITY AT RWTH AACHEN UNIVERSITY BEST PRACTICE PROJECT: TANDEMPLUS

The EAGE Women in Geoscience and Engineering (WGE) community is striving for a gender equal world. One of our goals is to discuss about the challenges of women’s retention in the industry and academia, and how we can, together, overcome this challenge.

For example, did you know that gender equality has strong, positive impacts on Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita which grow over time (1)? By 2050, improving gender equality would lead to an increase in EU (GDP) per capita by 6.1 to 9.6%, which amounts to €1.95 to €3.15 trillion (2).

On 25 October 2022 (12:00 CEST), the team from the RWTH’s Human Resources, Gender and Diversity Management will illustrate “how is RWTH Aachen University actively working on a strategy to create equal opportunities for all”.

Speakers:

Ralitsa Petrova-Stoyanov

Head of the Rectorate Staff Unit for Gender and Diversity Management – IGaD at RWTH Aachen University

Ramona Liedtke

Project coordinator Female Professors Program III & controller SPEAR & GesMINT, IGaD at RWTH Aachen University

The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with additional contributors. Based on their experiences, they will reflect on: what helps them achieve their career goals; which strategies support minorities for retention and advancement; what could be improved, and more.

Confirmed panelists are:

Aicha Bounaim

Senior scientific computing engineer at Schlumberger Norway Technology Center- EAGE Local Chapter Stavanger

Bingmu Xiao

Business development manager at CGG- VP EAGE Local Chapter London

Zénaba Putola

Human Resources manager EMEA & APAC at Tech Soft 3D

The audience will have time to ask questions and to interact with the panelists and moderators. It will be also possible to register for a worldwide mentoring program.

This event will be moderated by:

Adeline Parent

Senior structural geologist and basin analyst at Schlumberger Geosolutions – EAGE WGE community board member

Wiebke Athmer

Senior geoscientist at Schlumberger Norway Technology Center – Event manager EAGE Local Chapter Germany

The event is co-hosted by the EAGE Local Chapters Germany, London and Stavanger.

Prof Dr Siddharth Misra’s research focuses on improving subsurface characterization and prospect evaluation for the exploration of hydrocarbons, minerals and water resources.

His major contribution is in the theory of electromagnetic responses of geological formations to various charge polarization phenomena. The theory has enabled him to introduce a multi-frequency electromagnetic log-inversion technique to remove dielectric effects for improved estimation of hydrocarbon pore volume.
