New workshop to focus on optimising subsurface data delivery
EAGE introduces a new workshop with the unique aim of discussing and demonstrating how the industry can significantly accelerate delivery times for subsurface data processing. The workshop which is scheduled for 22-24 February 2021 comes at a critical time when many companies are focusing on improving efficiencies and minimizing project costs.
Reducing the turnaround time from seismic data acquisition to data analysis at the interpreter's workstation is therefore a vital industry focus. Yet it remains increasingly challenging as data volumes grow and geophysical algorithms become more complex.
Accelerated data delivery and analysis enables better decision making during evaluation, planning and development. Whilst exploration in frontier environments is slowing, diversity of data, whether geographical or geophysical, continues to increase.
“The push to speed up turnaround has driven the development and implementation of new algorithms and techniques. This workshop is an opportunity to highlight the progress made so far, and discuss the future direction of the industry”, says technical committee co-chair Tony Martin of PGS.

This unique workshop will include three days of technical sessions highlighting and explaining applications and methodologies, both used and emerging within our industry, to accelerate the turnaround time for subsurface data delivery and analysis. This workshop will provide an ideal opportunity for networking with specialists from the geoscience, data science and computer science communities.
“We hope that the workshop will generate an open discussion that challenges today's best practices and leads to novel ideas that drive a clear step change in our way of working” says technical committee co-chair Fabio Mancini of Woodside Energy.
You can contribute to this workshop by submitting an abstract before 20 November 2020. Abstracts can be submitted for in-person or virtual presentation. For more details please visit the event website via the EAGE Calendar.
